Dog grooming a difficult job to perform

“Do you all know how hard it is to groom a dog? Have you all tried grooming a dog yourself? We are groomers, we cut dog's hair we make NO miracles. We as groomers try to cut dog's hairs we out the dog's consent. Have you stopped and think that if we missed a spot or we don't cut a dog's hair correctly or evenly why does that happen? The answer is simple, is that we do not do our job correctly is because dogs do not let themselves. We cannot ask dogs permission to cut their hair. I would like to advice something to everyone if you do not like how they groom your dog at this place and how they cut their hair. What mAkes you think that in another grooming shop they are going to make a better job if your dog does not let himself? Remember dogs and all other animals are unpredictable And you do not know how they are going to react”

    Alot of Malicious Nonsense!!

“I've just read many of reviews written, and cannot believe the deliberate and staged attack on this business!! I've known the groomer Robin for over 19yrs, as she used to work in my grooming salon for me. First hand I know how well she treated the pets, got along with the owners and did a great professional job always with the pets best interest, comfort and safety at heart! I have never met another professional groomer in this industry that spends more time and energy assisting the shelters, low-income owners and the elderly! I've seen her do more charity work weekly then most do yearly and do Free grooming!!The same ppl that attack her fail to mention that she has 7 different vets as customers at her shop and two local shelters and a dog rescue group bring their personal pets to her! Also Dawn is used in grooming shops as a safe and effective degreaser for many skin conditions, it also gets used to loosen excessive flea dirt during pre-bath,fluids on skin from anal glands, as a pre-bath for skunk and poison ivy, etc.. why not just ask the groomer why she was using it instead of posting such un-educated nonsense and malicious rumors? Knowing Robin and how she always was with my customers, she was always happy to answer any questions, is very open and honest, unlike many of these postings!!! Furthermore, seeing as she orders her shampoo's each month with my order to save shipping, I know what products better then anyone else, and it's high quality, I had even recommended twice she cut back to less expensive shampoo's and she declined! It makes me sick that because some people didnt like the previous owner and other shops in the area are struggling to survive and using sabotage stunts to help themselves, these ppl are using this as a forum for their own agenda's while pretending to be customers with legitamite reviews! I've been in the shop, it is small, clean and neat. it carries all the standard equipment that is used in all professional shops, yes the loud dryers too!! quess what, all shops use them, what a stupid comment to post! What I found fishy also was alot of the comments were posted referring to dates the shop was closed as Robin was shop sitting my business while I was on vacation, some were during the big snow storms, when all shops closed, and some are posted referring to grooming when the shop has its regular days off! And the Matthew March 9 comment, if he is a professional groomer, why isn't he grooming his own dog? And he would know that her prices are below market value for dog grooming, another joke that the phony people put here to complain about, as her shop is all inclusive, no hidden charges, and she hasn't been charging for their extras like flea treatments, dematting, babysitting dogs half the day, putting up with nasty dogs, etc.. It amazes me what deceit and malicious gossip people can create to serve their own purpose and further their own agendas! My customers ask for Robin back all the time. Salem County residents too stupid to appreciate her, Camden County residents would welcome her back!!”

“Last spring, I took my golden retriever for his yearly shaved down and it was a complete embarrassment. They missed big chucks of fur all over his body. I do not know how they could of miss it. I could see it as soon as I walked through the door. I will NEVER go back again. I was not even offered a refund.”

    Cleanliness

“I took my 2 dogs here last month and did not read these comments before. I wish I had. My dogs were clean and their ears were clean too. But the store is farmy and they charge city prices. I also saw the dishsoap comment and I think if a dog gets a dishsoap bath the cost should be dishsoap cost, not higher. I probably will not go back. The place is small and kind of dirty and smells like dirty dog.”

“It was my first time at Allies and I did not read the comments here before I went. I wish that I had tho. It is a farmy kind of place but it charges like it is in the city. The lady was nice to my dog but for a bath and shave I paid too much. I read about the dish soap and if if a place is going to use dishsoap then they should charge dishsoap prices. Not a bargain but my dog was clean when he came home, even his ears. I probably will not go back again because of the cost and then the groomer expected a tip too which was insulting after I paid to much for the bath.”

    Tipping the scales

“I just had my dog groomed here. I checked this site and I see two posts from the same dog owner, on the same day which makes me wonder what their agenda is on this business.

This tiny and dirty salon is not worth spending your time or money at. It has no parking, you have to walk your dog through dirt to get to and from the front door. I can only imagine what it's like in the rain.

As for the soaps used, dish detergent is okay for degreasing only for heavily soiled coats, not for each and every dog with all coats. This salon charges 'salon' and upscale prices. For these prices, the pets should be washed with premium natural upscale shampoos, or if the owner(s) wants to use Dawn, charge for Dawn. You can't have it both ways.

The practices of this tiny little shop in the middle of no-where just don't justify all of this comment back and forth. Go for yourself. See what kind of treatment you get for the price you pay. The whole thing about 'breed specific' grooming is a joke in the grooming business.

I've been a groomer for 27 years and this is the first that I've heard of it.”

Avoid This Place - It is Horrible

“I just read the other review and I experienced the same and worse. The 'new management' thing was a joke. The salon used to be owned by a nice woman who retired about a year or so ago, and then it was bought by some guy who was nasty to customers and to the animals. He swore at them and yanked at them. He harrassed me on the phone, with many calls after I told him to leave me off of the list. Then I heard that a girl bought the business from him and I thought I would give it a try again. NO WAY!!!! The prices are not that great, the cuts are no better than I can do myself and the animals are not even cleaned. My dog was so stressed when she came home, she panted all afternoon. I don't blame her after being yelled and cursed at. And, they say they 'hand dry' the dogs? They use loud and individual CAGE FANS!!!! This is completely uprofessional, unhealthy, and wrong. They didn't even clean the grooming table off between dogs. I could go on.....
Not only do they treat your dog like crap, but they treat the owners that way as well.”

“This was my first time at Alleys Friends and Yes, it is not the fancy place you may be used to but Robin the groomer seemed to know a lot about grooming all types of dogs.I'm very happy with the way she looks and smells they even brushed her teeth. I did not spend the entire time(2hours)there so I can not say if anything else went on that I don't know about but by talking with Robin and her passion for all types of dogs I can not believe that my dog was treated badly. I guess I would have to hear someone else's opinion”

“It is quite common to use dish soap as a degreaser because it is safe on animals.Just fyi. This is what has been used on animals who were affected by oil spills. Dawn and Joy are commonly used, as they do not contain ammonia.

However, I wouldn't use ONLY dish soap. And of course, there is no excuse for that type of behavior toward someone's pet.”

“I brought my poodle in there and the groomer was great. She gave me a breed specific groom for such a reasonable price I could not believe it. I have been taking my dog to shops in the area and they don't even know what a breed specific groom is! I recommend this salon to anyone who has a dog.”

    NEVER AGAIN

“Under new management!!!! I will never take my dog there again. There were treating the dogs badly, yanking on them and cursing. I saw stuff through the window and when I came in they acted completely different towards the dogs. I saw dishsoap being used on the dogs...are you kidding me....this is against many veterinary beliefs. It dries out their skin. Prices may be reasonable but they treat your dog like dog crap.”
